Dallas — Despite vocal “Fire Nico” chants at American Airlines Center, Dallas Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont is said to be standing firmly behind general manager Nico Harrison, according to a report from The Stein Line.

The support comes as the Mavericks sit at 1–2 following Sunday’s road victory over the Toronto Raptors. Fan unrest has intensified since Harrison’s February blockbuster that sent 25-year-old five-time All-NBA First Team guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, Dallas received Anthony Davis, Max Christie and an unprotected 2029 first-round pick, a trade Dumont personally approved.

The deal continues to cast a long shadow in Dallas, even after the club selected forward Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Harrison, hired in 2021, has two seasons remaining on his current contract and, per the report, has not entered discussions about an extension.

Dallas opened the season with consecutive home losses to the San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards before capturing its first win in Toronto.
