The Cleveland Cavaliers dropped their second straight road game Sunday, falling 117-100 to the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center.
Cleveland briefly held an early lead, but a sloppy finish to the first quarter left the visitors down eight. The deficit grew to 14 by halftime, and a decisive 15-0 Houston burst midway through the third period stretched the margin to 27, effectively ending the contest.
Guard Donovan Mitchell paced the Cavaliers with 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting and added six assists, yet Cleveland never mounted a serious rally. The Rockets were led by Kevin Durant’s 30 points on 11-of-17 from the field; he also handed out seven assists.
The loss followed the Cavaliers’ Christmas Day defeat at Madison Square Garden and dropped them to 0-2 on their three-game trip, which concludes Monday in San Antonio.
