The Houston Rockets are expected to tackle a new contract for forward Tari Eason before turning their attention to an anticipated extension for Kevin Durant, league sources told The Athletic. ESPN later echoed that Durant is still projected to receive a new deal, though it is not the organization’s first order of business.

Eason, 23, is entering the last season of his rookie agreement. Houston already exercised his $5.68 million option for 2025-26 after he produced career highs of 12.0 points and 1.7 steals across 57 games last year. His emergence as one of head coach Ime Udoka’s most disruptive defenders has heightened the club’s interest in securing him long-term.

While the Rockets weigh new contracts, Udoka may also face rotation challenges. The roster now features more established contributors than available minutes, creating what one league observer called a “good problem” for the franchise.

Cam Reddish Poised for Move to Lithuania

Free-agent wing Cam Reddish is close to signing with BC Šiauliai in Lithuania, according to BasketNews.com. The agreement, expected to include an NBA or EuroLeague out clause, would mark the former No. 10 overall pick’s first stint overseas.

Reddish, 25, appeared in 33 games for the Los Angeles Lakers last season and averaged 3.2 points. Since entering the league in 2019, he has logged time with the Hawks, Knicks, Trail Blazers and Lakers.

Trey Lyles Heads to Real Madrid

Forward Trey Lyles has officially joined EuroLeague powerhouse Real Madrid on a one-year, $3 million contract that contains an NBA exit clause, his agent Rich Paul confirmed. The 29-year-old averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 69 appearances for the Sacramento Kings in 2023-24 but drew limited interest on the NBA market this summer.

The Spanish club adds Lyles to a roster already featuring several former NBA veterans as it pursues another continental title.
