Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul insisted that LeBron James will finish the 2023-24 campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers, ending speculation that the four-time MVP could be moved before the trade deadline.

During the debut episode of “Game Over with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul” on The Ringer, Kellerman asked whether it was realistic to think James might not be a Laker at season’s end. Paul cut him off before the question was complete.

“No,” Paul responded. When pressed, he added, “Yeah. Where’s he going to go?”

James, now in his 23rd NBA season, has never been traded aside from the 2010 sign-and-trade that sent him from Cleveland to Miami. He also holds a no-trade clause, further limiting any potential midseason move.

Brief offseason chatter surfaced after Paul released a statement saying James wanted a realistic path to a championship while acknowledging the Lakers’ focus on the future. That talk quickly faded, but questions about the star’s long-term plans remain. James’s contract expires this summer, and NBA rules prevent him from signing an extension until free agency.

The Lakers, who are 17-6 and second in the Western Conference, have positioned themselves to pursue roster upgrades around James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. Should James depart in July, Los Angeles could open significant salary-cap space.

For now, Paul’s message is clear: any decisions about where James plays next season will wait until the summer.
