Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is open to the possibility of being traded, according to reporting by ESPN’s Marc J. Spears. The development adds a new layer of uncertainty for an organization that has been quietly evaluating its options for several months.

League sources told Dallas Hoops Journal that Atlanta began gauging Young’s trade value as far back as last offseason. Extension talks have stalled, and the team has experienced mixed results when Young is on the court this year. The Hawks are 2-8 in the 10 games he has played.

Young, 27, is earning $45.9 million this season and holds a $48.9 million player option for 2026-27, which he could decline to enter unrestricted free agency. Because his contract does not include a no-trade clause, Atlanta can move him without his consent.

On the floor, the three-time All-Star is averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists while shooting 41.5 percent overall and 30.5 percent from beyond the arc.

The Hawks have also examined larger trade scenarios, holding internal discussions centered on Anthony Davis, though sources say the Dallas Mavericks have no interest in acquiring Young in any potential deal. As reported by Marc Stein of The Stein Line, no serious traction has developed between the two clubs.

For now, Atlanta is expected to keep gathering information while the rumor mill continues to churn. Spears noted on ESPN that Young is “open-minded to being moved,” but no trade appears imminent.
