James Harden is projected to decline his upcoming player option and negotiate a new agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report from Ashish Mathur of Cavaliers Nation.

Sources cited by Mathur indicate the framework under discussion is a two-year pact worth roughly $75 million, including a player option for the second season. Harden, 34, joined Cleveland in a February trade from the Los Angeles Clippers.

In 20 appearances with the Cavaliers, the former MVP is averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 8.1 assists while shooting efficiently from the field. Cleveland has posted a 15-5 record in games he has played.

The backcourt pairing of Harden and Donovan Mitchell has shown early chemistry, complementing front-court standouts Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. Team decision-makers are expected to monitor playoff performance before finalizing any contract, but the parties are viewed as likely to reach an agreement if current trends continue.
