Reaves brushes off Rich Paul’s trade talk; LeBron says comments don’t reflect him

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves said he paid little attention to recent remarks from agent Rich Paul, who floated the idea of trading Reaves to the Memphis Grizzlies for Jaren Jackson Jr. during a podcast appearance.

Reporter Joe Vardon of The Athletic wrote that one of Reaves’ representatives approached Paul at halftime of Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks to discuss the public trade scenario. The conversation reportedly lasted several minutes inside Crypto.com Arena.

LeBron James, represented by Paul’s Klutch Sports, told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin he was not involved in the suggestion and emphasized his support for Reaves. “Rich is his own man. What Rich says is not a direct reflection of me,” James said. The forward added that he enjoys playing alongside Reaves, calls him his longest-tenured teammate and speaks with him daily.

The Lakers entered Friday at 24-15, fifth place in the Western Conference, with attention focused on the standings rather than podcast speculation.
