The Toronto Raptors will be without forward RJ Barrett for approximately seven days after imaging confirmed a right knee sprain, the club announced Wednesday.

Barrett, 25, sat out Monday’s win in Cleveland and will be re-evaluated in one week, sidelining him for upcoming games against Indiana (Wednesday), Charlotte (Saturday), New York (Sunday) and Portland (next Tuesday).

The former No. 3 overall pick was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s victory over Brooklyn. He stole an inbounds pass, completed a two-handed breakaway dunk, landed awkwardly and left the contest shortly afterward.

Head coach Darko Rajakovic said Monday that initial scans were encouraging, but the team opted for a cautious approach with Barrett’s recovery.

Toronto has won eight straight and holds a 13-5 record, the second best in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors own a plus-12.9 net rating in 338 minutes without Barrett on the floor this season.

Second-year wing JaKobe Walter, who logged a season-high 24 minutes while starting in Barrett’s place Monday, is expected to see an expanded role during the forward’s absence.
