The Toronto Raptors have waived guard Tyreke Key, Sportsnet.ca’s Blake Murphy reported Friday on X. The transaction frees up the lone vacancy on the club’s 15-man standard roster.
Key, a 6-foot-2 combo guard, had signed a rest-of-season minimum deal with Toronto on Monday after two seasons with Raptors 905. He was inactive for the NBA squad’s games on Tuesday and Thursday and leaves the roster without appearing in a regular-season contest.
With Raptors 905 this year, the Tennessee product averaged 16.6 points across 33 games (14 starts) while shooting 52.1 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from three-point range. Undrafted in 2023, Key spent his first four collegiate seasons at Indiana State, played one year in Belgium, and then joined the G League affiliate.
The one-week, prorated contract was worth $51,207, a sizable boost to Key’s G League earnings. Standard NBAGL salaries this season were $45,000, and he also collected a $35,000 Exhibit 10 bonus.
Toronto can fill the open spot before Sunday’s regular-season finale, either by signing a free agent or converting a two-way player. Shooting guard A.J. Lawson and 2025 second-round pick Alijah Martin—each with 22 NBA appearances in 2025-26—are eligible for promotion, which would make them playoff-eligible.
