The Toronto Raptors are evaluating trade scenarios for Sacramento Kings All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis and Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford, according to multiple reports.
Sam Amick of The Athletic linked Toronto to Sabonis, while Josh Lewenberg of TSN reported the club’s interest in Gafford. The front office is said to be open to reconfiguring the roster around Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram as the team sits near the top of the Eastern Conference.
Several players, including Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl and RJ Barrett, have reportedly been mentioned as possible outgoing pieces should the Raptors find a suitable upgrade.
Landing Sabonis would represent the bigger swing. The 27-year-old is producing strong numbers for a struggling Kings team and carries a significant salary along with proven playoff aspirations. Gafford, on a smaller contract, offers rim-running and shot-blocking skills and has been viewed league-wide as one of Dallas’s more attainable assets.
The Raptors previously explored a move for Anthony Davis before the Lakers forward sustained a hand injury, but that pursuit has cooled. Management is now focused on additions that align with both the club’s competitive timeline and salary-cap structure.
Toronto has defended well but has struggled to generate consistent offense, hovering around the middle of the NBA standings. With the trade deadline set for Feb. 5, league observers anticipate further activity from the Raptors’ front office.
