The Detroit Pistons are not exploring a trade for Dallas Mavericks forward-center Anthony Davis, according to Hunter Patterson of The Athletic.
League sources told the outlet that Detroit’s front office intends to prioritize internal development rather than pursue a blockbuster move. Although speculation surfaced last week linking the Pistons to Davis, the organization is said to be committed to preserving the chemistry of a young roster that has surpassed expectations.
Team executives have consistently preached patience, signaling they will remain opportunistic but not aggressive even after recent offseason signings become eligible to be moved. The approach mirrors Detroit’s current standing: a 21-5 record that tops the Eastern Conference and reflects balance on both ends of the floor.
Davis, meanwhile, continues to draw league-wide interest while Dallas evaluates its options. The 31-year-old is earning $54.1 million this season, is guaranteed $58.5 million in 2024-25, and holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28.
