The Detroit Pistons expect Marcus Sasser to miss at least the next month while he continues rehabilitation for a right hip impingement, the club announced on Friday.

The team said the 25-year-old point guard will be reevaluated in roughly four weeks. Sasser had previously been listed as day-to-day, but Friday’s update signals a more significant setback.

Selected 25th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2023 NBA Draft, Sasser arrived in Detroit through a pair of trades. He appeared in 57 games last season, averaging 6.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 14.2 minutes while shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from three and 84.3 percent at the foul line.

Last month the Pistons exercised the fourth-year option on Sasser’s rookie contract, locking in a $5,198,983 salary for the 2026-27 season. He becomes extension-eligible next summer.

Detroit’s backcourt depth has been tested early in the season. Jaden Ivey is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, and Caris LeVert began the campaign managing a preseason hamstring injury.
