DETROIT — The Pistons matched a club record on Monday night, holding off the Indiana Pacers 122-117 at Little Caesars Arena to secure their 13th consecutive victory and improve to 15-2.

The run equals the marks set by Detroit’s championship teams in the 1989-90 and 2003-04 seasons. It comes barely two years after the club opened 3-36 and dropped 28 straight games.

Cade Cunningham led the way with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. “We play for the Detroit Pistons, a historic franchise,” Cunningham said. “To make history for a franchise like this is special.”

Jalen Duren supplied 17 points and 12 boards, Caris LeVert scored 19, and Jaden Ivey added 12 points in 12 minutes in his second game back after a 10-month absence due to a broken fibula.

Detroit built an 18-point cushion early in the fourth quarter before Indiana rallied to within three in the final minute. Cunningham later conceded, “We shouldn’t have allowed them to get back into the game like that. We’ll watch the film, learn from it and get better.”

The Pacers, who reached the NBA Finals in June, slipped to 2-15 despite 31 points from Tyrese Haliburton and 25 from Bennedict Mathurin.

The Pistons travel to Boston on Wednesday for an NBA In-Season Tournament game against the Celtics, where a win would set a new franchise record for consecutive victories.
