The Detroit Pistons are expected to move guard Daniss Jenkins from a two-way agreement to a full NBA contract in the coming weeks, league sources told Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Jenkins, 24, has been available for all 31 of Detroit’s games this season. Because two-way players can be active in a maximum of 50 contests, the conversion is anticipated before the February 5 trade deadline.

The second-year point guard delivered a standout five-game stretch in mid-November while the roster was depleted by injuries, earning an Eastern Conference Player of the Week nomination for games played Nov. 10–16. Even with the team back to full strength, he has appeared in 15 of the Pistons’ past 16 matchups.

Through 25 outings (six starts), Jenkins is averaging 7.5 points, 3.0 assists and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 42.7% from the field, 35.6% from three-point range and 77.1% at the foul line in 16.2 minutes per game.

Detroit’s standard roster is already at the 15-player limit, so a promotion would require a corresponding move. Forward Isaac Jones, whose minimum-salaried deal is non-guaranteed until January 7 and who has appeared in only one game since being claimed off waivers on Nov. 6, is considered the most at risk.
