NEW ORLEANS — By logging his 51st appearance of the season, Zion Williamson triggered the latest games-played clause in his rookie-scale extension, increasing next season’s guaranteed salary from $16.9 million to $25.3 million, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
The New Orleans Pelicans inserted multiple protection thresholds in Williamson’s contract because of early-career injury concerns. Reaching the 50-game mark activated the most recent guarantee, boosting the amount locked in for the 2025-26 campaign.
The deal still contains larger figures ahead. Williamson is slated to earn $42.2 million in 2026-27, a season that entered this year without any guaranteed money attached.
When healthy, the 23-year-old forward has produced at an All-Star level and remains a key component of the Pelicans’ long-term plans.
