The New Orleans Pelicans have released forwards Garrison Brooks and Jalen McDaniels, the team announced on Monday, October 6.

Both players had joined training camp on Exhibit 10 contracts. By clearing waivers, they are expected to report to the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron. If either remains with Birmingham for at least 60 days, he can earn a bonus of up to $85,300.

Brooks, 26, went undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2022. He spent his first professional season with the Westchester Knicks in the G League, followed by stints overseas in South Korea and Lithuania.

McDaniels, 27, was selected 52nd overall by Charlotte in the 2019 NBA Draft and played three-and-a-half seasons with the Hornets. He later had roster stops in Philadelphia, Toronto, Sacramento, San Antonio and Washington, seeing regular-season action with the 76ers, Raptors and Wizards. Over 252 NBA games, the San Diego State product has averaged 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting .449 from the field, .322 from three-point range and .777 at the free-throw line.

The Pelicans now have two open spots on their training-camp roster.
