Patty Mills Joins La Laguna Tenerife for Remainder of Season

La Laguna, Spain — Sixteen-year NBA veteran Patty Mills has signed a rest-of-season contract with La Laguna Tenerife, the Spanish club announced in a press release.
The 37-year-old guard brings career averages of 8.7 points, 2.2 assists and 1.6 rebounds across 921 NBA games while shooting 38.5% from three-point range. The 6’2″ Australian is known for his energy, off-ball movement and perimeter accuracy.
This marks Mills’ first professional stop outside the NBA and the Australian national team. He spent last season with the Jazz and Clippers, appearing in 29 games and logging 3.8 points in 11.1 minutes per contest. He has not averaged more than 14.2 minutes or played more than 40 games in a season since 2021/22 with Brooklyn.
Unable to secure an NBA deal last summer, Mills had been weighing European opportunities. Tenerife — also called CB Canarias — competes in Spain’s Liga ACB and the FIBA Champions League.
Off the court, Mills was hired last June as general manager of the University of Hawaii men’s basketball program and has made Hawaii his offseason home for the past decade.
