Patrick Beverley’s legal team is disputing the felony assault claims that led to the former NBA guard’s recent arrest in Fort Bend County, Texas.
Attorney Issues Statement
In a statement sent to Hoops Wire, attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins said the probable-cause affidavit offers “only one side of the story” and insists it omits key information. “Patrick is not a violent man and was not violent that night,” she wrote, adding that Beverley cooperated with authorities and urged others to remain calm. She expressed confidence that “when all the facts are in, Patrick will be cleared of these charges.”
Details of the Allegations
Beverley, 36, was taken into custody earlier this month on a felony assault charge tied to a Nov. 14 incident involving his sister. Police documents obtained by TMZ Sports allege the guard grabbed his sister by the neck, lifted her off the ground, and slammed her against walls after she came home from meeting her boyfriend without permission. According to the affidavit, officers observed neck marks and petechiae in her eyes, and she reported being punched in the left eye while receiving a threatening remark. The sister’s boyfriend allegedly called 911 after being told to leave the residence.
Beverley Responds Online
Shortly after news of the arrest surfaced, Beverley addressed the matter on social media, writing, “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well Luv.”
The veteran guard last appeared in the NBA during the 2023-24 season.
