NBA guard Patrick Beverley was taken into custody on Friday in Fort Bend County, Texas, and charged with assault of a family violence/household member, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence after a reported altercation between relatives. Beverley, 37, was booked and later released after posting a $40,000 bond.
“Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well,” Beverley wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Friday night.
Beverley’s attorney told TMZ that the veteran guard has no prior criminal record. The lawyer said Beverley became concerned when he “unexpectedly found his little sister, a minor, alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night,” and disputed the version of events described by authorities. “We look forward to the opportunity to address this in court,” the statement added.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active, and no further details have been released.
