Houston, TX — Veteran NBA guard Patrick Beverley was taken into custody on Friday in Fort Bend County, Texas, on a charge of assault of a family or household member, authorities said.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence involving relatives. Beverley was booked on the misdemeanor charge and later released after posting a $40,000 bond.
Hours after the arrest, Beverley posted on X, formerly Twitter, writing, “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well.”
Beverley’s attorney told TMZ Sports that the 12-year NBA veteran has no criminal record and acted out of concern for his underage sister. According to the lawyer, Beverley arrived home to find the minor with an 18-year-old man, and the family disputes portions of the incident description. “We look forward to the opportunity to address that in court,” the statement read.
The Athletic’s Jenna West reported that the investigation remains open and no further details have been released.
Beverley, 35, has appeared in 666 regular-season NBA games. He spent part of the 2023-24 campaign in the NBA before finishing the season with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.
