Sacramento, CA — Russell Westbrook posted 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists Wednesday as the short-handed Kings defeated an equally depleted Warriors squad. The triple-double moved the nine-time All-Star past Jason Kidd for the most career rebounds by a guard in NBA history.

“Humbly speaking, I’m the best rebounding guard ever, so if the ball comes off the rim, I’m going to get it,” Westbrook said before learning about the milestone. Once informed, he added, “Oh. Honestly, I didn’t even know that. I’m going to need the game ball.”

Achiuwa’s Deal Non-Guaranteed

Forward/center Precious Achiuwa’s one-year, minimum-salary contract with Sacramento is non-guaranteed, according to HoopsHype. The 26-year-old debuted Wednesday, contributing four points, three rebounds and a block in nine minutes.

Brooks Questionable, Leonard Out Saturday

Suns forward Dillon Brooks, sidelined the last six contests by a core muscle strain, is listed as questionable for Saturday’s rematch with the Clippers in Los Angeles. Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will sit out a third straight game with a right ankle sprain, The Athletic reported.

Lue Preaches Patience Amid 3-5 Start

After being routed by Phoenix on Thursday, the Clippers dropped to 3-5. Head coach Tyronn Lue urged calm as the club integrates several new players. “We really haven’t had the chance to get to our full potential as far as lineups and things like that,” Lue said. “We just gotta be patient, let our guys get healthy and then we’ll see.”

Jalen Green Shines in Suns Debut

Guard Jalen Green returned from a right hamstring strain that cost him the first eight games of the season and led all scorers with 29 points in Phoenix’s blowout of Los Angeles on Thursday. The 23-year-old shot 10-of-20 from the field and added three rebounds, three assists and two steals in 23 minutes. “Body-wise, I felt really good,” Green said. “I was so excited I couldn’t even sleep—usually I take a pregame nap, and I couldn’t get it in.”
