Sacramento, CA — New Kings general manager Scott Perry is asking fans to stay patient as the club begins the season 4-13, once again near the bottom of the Western Conference.

“I totally understand their frustrations,” Perry told The Athletic. “Rome wasn’t built in a day… buckle up, be patient for the ride. We definitely have a plan in place, and we’ll do this thing together.”

Perry’s task is complicated by six players already locked into high-salary contracts through next season. Guard Zach LaVine holds a $49 million player option for 2026-27, and his intentions remain unclear. League sources said the Clippers have shown interest in veteran wing DeMar DeRozan, whose $25.7 million deal for next year carries a $10 million partial guarantee.

Durant to Miss Rockets-Suns Matchup

Phoenix forward Kevin Durant will be unavailable tonight against Houston because of a family matter. Suns guard Devin Booker, who spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Rockets, expressed support and disappointment. “I hope everything is OK with his family first, but yeah, I would love a matchup with him,” Booker told reporters, according to Arizona Republic writer Duane Rankin.

Goodwin Carves Out Role in Phoenix

Guard Jordan Goodwin, claimed off waivers before camp, secured a roster spot and is averaging 7.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists off the Suns bench. “He just has a hunger to get the basketball,” interim coach Jordan Ott said. “That’s part of why we love him.”

Paul’s Legacy Highlighted as Retirement Nears

Clippers guard Chris Paul, a 12-time All-Star who will retire after the season, remains a polarizing figure. In The Athletic, columnist Zach Harper outlined why Paul should be appreciated for his on-court influence despite mixed public opinion.
