The Indiana Pacers intend to sign veteran guard Delon Wright to their training camp roster, Pacers insider Tony East reported on X (formerly Twitter) on September 25. The deal is contingent on Wright passing a physical examination.
Indiana turned to Wright after scrapping plans to add Monte Morris, who suffered a calf injury that halted his own camp agreement earlier in the day. Wright is expected to receive a one-year, non-guaranteed contract similar to the one Morris had lined up.
Morris had been slated to compete for a regular-season slot alongside James Wiseman and Tony Bradley, both of whom are on partially guaranteed deals. The Pacers currently carry 13 players on standard guaranteed contracts and have three others on Exhibit 10 agreements.
Wright opened last season with Milwaukee before being traded to New York at the deadline, appearing in 40 games between the two teams. He posted 3.1 points per game overall and improved to 4.3 points and 2.1 assists in 15 outings with the Knicks, adding six playoff appearances.
If he reaches the floor for Indiana, the upcoming campaign would mark Wright’s 11th NBA season and his 11th different franchise. His career averages stand at 6.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
