The Indiana Pacers are leaning on what they call “the process” as a grueling 2025-26 schedule winds down. After reaching the NBA Finals a year ago, the club has stumbled to an 18-59 record with five games remaining, largely because of a relentless run of injuries.

“We talk a lot about just staying with the process,” guard Andrew Nembhard said. “It’s the competitiveness, bringing that energy every night. It’s something you’ve got to work on, and it’s only going to make us better for next season.”

Indiana opened the campaign 1-13 and cycled through several hardship signings while juggling a constantly shifting roster. Head coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged that keeping the group steady has been difficult. “When things get like this, you’ve just got to find a way to operate that’s consistent and positive,” Carlisle said. “The players have been terrific.”

The veteran coach added that the locker room’s character has prevented the season from unraveling completely. “If you don’t have that kind of character, something like this can be a lot more arduous,” Carlisle noted.

Indiana closes the season with five games over the next two weeks, hoping the lessons learned will carry into the 2026-27 campaign.
