Indianapolis, IN — Indiana Pacers guard Kam Jones was taken into custody Monday morning after state troopers said he failed to stop for a traffic stop and led police on a short chase along Interstate 65.

Indiana State Police reported that a trooper attempted to pull over Jones on the southbound lanes of I-65 for alleged erratic driving. According to authorities, the 22-year-old initially refused to stop, prompting a brief pursuit that ended near the Fletcher Avenue exit by the Fountain Square neighborhood.

Jones was booked into Marion County Jail on preliminary counts of reckless driving and resisting law enforcement. He remained in custody as of Monday afternoon.

The Pacers released a brief statement saying, “We are aware of the situation involving Kam Jones. We are in the process of gathering additional information and will not have any additional comment on the matter at this time.”

Selected 38th overall in the June draft, the 6-foot-5 combo guard signed a standard NBA contract in July. He sat out most of training camp with a back injury and is slated for a medical re-evaluation next month.

Jones spent four seasons at Marquette, earning consensus second-team All-America honors and a spot on the All-Big East first team in 2025. As a senior, he averaged 19.2 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds over 34 games.
