The Indiana Pacers have cut ties with center James Wiseman, the team confirmed Monday while announcing the signing of Micah Potter and the release of guard Garrison Mathews.

Wiseman, 24, rejoined Indiana on Dec. 20 under a 10-day hardship contract after appearing in one game for the club in late October. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Pacers terminated the short-term deal, a move that does not require the league’s waiver process but still guarantees Wiseman the full value of the contract.

The former No. 2 overall pick logged three games during his brief return, averaging 13.0 minutes and scoring a total of nine points. Beat writer Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star reported that Indiana is not eligible for an additional hardship exception at this time.

Wiseman first signed with the Pacers last season but managed only five minutes before suffering a torn Achilles tendon that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Over his NBA career, the 2020 draft pick holds averages of 9.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 18.8 minutes per game.
