The Indiana Pacers have finalized a multiyear contract extension with head coach Rick Carlisle, according to NBA reporter Marc Stein.

Carlisle, 65, has guided Indiana to steady progress in each of his four seasons since returning to the franchise. The Pacers finished 50-32 in 2024-25, entered the playoffs as the Eastern Conference’s No. 4 seed and pushed the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games in the NBA Finals—marking just the second Finals appearance in team history.

One year earlier, Carlisle steered Indiana to the Eastern Conference finals. Under his direction, the club’s win total has climbed every season.

Before rejoining the Pacers, Carlisle spent 13 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks and captured an NBA championship in 2011. His head-coaching résumé spans 23 years and three franchises, compiling a 993-860 regular-season record.

In addition to his coaching duties, Carlisle serves as president of the National Basketball Coaches Association.
