Veteran guard Delon Wright entered training camp with no guarantee he will be on the Indiana Pacers’ opening-night roster, yet several circumstances could tilt the odds in his favor.
Indiana already holds the league maximum 15 standard contracts, but journeyman center Tony Bradley’s 2025/26 salary is non-guaranteed. Because Bradley would be the club’s fourth center behind Myles Turner, Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman—both returning from Achilles injuries—the team could decide his spot is expendable.
Wright, 33, also has a history with head coach Rick Carlisle, having played a key bench role for Carlisle’s 2019/20 Dallas Mavericks. “Delon’s a good NBA player,” Carlisle said. “There’s an opportunity there for him, and our style suits his abilities.”
The 11-year veteran acknowledged the unusual position of fighting for a job after 548 career regular-season games. “They know what I do,” Wright said. “If I’m on the team, good. If not, I know I’ll give it my all.”
Walker Targets Larger Role
Third-year forward Jarace Walker, selected No. 8 overall in 2023, averaged just 14.1 minutes over 108 games in his first two seasons. After missing last year’s NBA Finals with a sprained ankle, Walker arrived at camp in what Carlisle called “tremendous conditioning.” The coach added that the 21-year-old has positioned himself “to be a major factor” this season, crediting lessons learned from teammate Pascal Siakam.
Kyle Guy Accepts Exhibit 10 Deal
Former Cavaliers guard Kyle Guy joined camp on an Exhibit 10 contract after previously agreeing to serve as an assistant at the University of Nevada. The 27-year-old expects to open the year with Indiana’s G League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom. “The goal is to make the Pacers roster,” Guy said, adding that he hopes a strong showing in Noblesville can keep that possibility alive.
Boom Acquire Spalding’s Rights
The Boom strengthened their frontcourt by obtaining forward Ray Spalding’s returning rights from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in exchange for a 2026 G League first-round pick. The move could precede Spalding signing his own Exhibit 10 contract with the Pacers, which would route him to Noblesville while providing a training-camp bonus.
