The Orlando Magic have agreed to a contract with guard Lester Quinones, giving the 24-year-old an opportunity to secure a spot on the regular-season roster or land a two-way slot during training camp.
Quinones split the 2023-24 NBA campaign between the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers, appearing in 13 games and averaging 6.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 14.1 minutes.
After New Orleans waived him from a two-way deal in July, the 6-foot-5 guard spent significant time in the G League. He played 41 games for the Birmingham Squadron and Delaware Blue Coats, posting 21.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists while logging 36 minutes per contest.
Quinones also participated in five Summer League games, recording 8.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 21.6 minutes.
Orlando’s backcourt is crowded following an active offseason. Jalen Suggs is expected to retain a starting role when healthy, while the club added Desmond Bane in a trade with Memphis and signed Tyus Jones in free agency. Second-year guards Anthony Black and Jett Howard remain in the mix, and rookie Jase Richardson is slated for an early look.
Represented by agent Scott Wong Nichols, Quinones will attempt to carve out depth behind Orlando’s core guards when training camp opens.
