Denver Nuggets vice chairman and president Josh Kroenke watched from courtside in Riga, Latvia, on Wednesday as Nikola Jokic and Serbia opened EuroBasket 2025 with a 98-64 rout of Estonia.
Kroenke joined vice president of basketball operations Ben Tenzer and executive vice president of player personnel Jon Wallace, the latest team officials to visit the three-time NBA MVP during the tournament’s group stage. Jokic produced 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in 23 minutes, finishing plus-39 in the lopsided victory. Serbia returns to action Friday against Portugal.
Roster and staff updates
• NBA.com’s John Schuhmann reviewed film of newcomers Cameron Johnson and Bruce Brown, predicting defensive improvement over Michael Porter Jr. and Russell Westbrook. Denver ranked 21st in defensive rating last season after placing eighth in 2023-24.
• The Grand Rapids Gold, Denver’s G League affiliate, obtained the returning rights to guard James Akinjo from the Wisconsin Herd in exchange for the rights to Will Richardson and a 2026 first-round pick. The move positions Akinjo, undrafted out of Baylor in 2022, as a candidate for an Exhibit 10 deal with the Nuggets before training camp.
• Nine Denver players—six on standard contracts and three on two-way deals—can reach free agency in 2026, according to a team-by-team list released Tuesday.
