The Denver Nuggets have guaranteed a third NBA season for both Julian Strawther and DaRon Holmes, picking up their rookie-scale team options for 2026/27, according to Altitude Sports reporter Katy Winge.
Strawther, the No. 29 pick in the 2023 draft, will now earn $4,826,931 next season. The 23-year-old guard/forward became a regular in Denver’s rotation in 2024/25, averaging 9.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 21.3 minutes in 65 games while shooting .432/.349/.822.
Holmes was selected 22nd overall in 2024 after Denver traded up on draft night. The former Dayton forward missed his entire rookie year with a torn right Achilles suffered in his first Summer League appearance but has fully recovered and is expected to be available for Thursday’s season opener. The exercised option locks in a $3,372,120 salary for the 23-year-old in 2026/27.
Because the Nuggets triggered the fourth-year option on Strawther, he will be eligible to negotiate a rookie-scale extension during the 2026 offseason. Holmes’ contract still has one more decision point; the team must decide on his fourth-year option for 2027/28—valued at roughly $5.55 million—before the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
