Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson will undergo an MRI after hurting his right knee late in Tuesday’s matchup with the Dallas Mavericks.

The 29-year-old exited in the fourth quarter, limping to the locker room. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported that the imaging exam will determine the severity of the injury.

Johnson had started Denver’s first 27 games, posting averages of 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 30.9 minutes per contest. He entered the night after a 20-point performance in Monday’s victory over Utah.

Acquired from the Brooklyn Nets during the offseason, Johnson is in the third season of a four-year, $94.5 million contract.

Denver is already without starters Christian Braun (ankle) and Aaron Gordon (hamstring). Braun has been sidelined since Nov. 12, while Gordon last played on Nov. 21.

If Johnson is unavailable for an extended stretch, the Nuggets are expected to lean more on Tim Hardaway Jr., Bruce Brown and rookie Julian Strawther for wing minutes.
