The Brooklyn Nets have released forward Tosan Evbuomwan from his two-way contract, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. The move was reported on August 29, 2025.

Evbuomwan, a 6′8″ combo forward from Newcastle, England, signed a two-year two-way deal with Brooklyn on January 1 after going undrafted out of Princeton in 2023. In 28 appearances for the Nets last season, the 24-year-old averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals over 23.8 minutes, shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 31.2 percent from three-point range and 75.3 percent at the foul line.

Brian Lewis of the New York Post suggested the waiver could signal an upcoming trade, though two-way contracts are non-guaranteed and do not affect the salary cap. Brooklyn already had one two-way vacancy prior to Friday’s transaction.

Before joining the Nets, Evbuomwan opened the 2023-24 campaign in the NBA G League with the Pistons’ affiliate, then signed a 10-day contract with Memphis followed by both a 10-day and a two-way deal with Detroit. He played 17 NBA games between the Grizzlies and Pistons, averaging 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 21.6 minutes while shooting 50.7 percent overall, 37.5 percent from deep and 68.0 percent at the line.
