The Brooklyn Nets have signed forward Tre Scott to another hardship deal, allowing him to suit up for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Toronto Raptors.
Scott’s previous 10-day hardship contract expired Saturday night. Because the new agreement is also a hardship exception, he will become an unrestricted free agent after Sunday and will not count toward Brooklyn’s 15-man roster limit.
The Nets qualified for the hardship exception with four players sidelined for extended periods: DayRon Sharpe (thumb), Egor Dëmin (foot), Michael Porter Jr. (hamstring) and Danny Wolf (ankle). Each has missed at least three consecutive games and is expected to remain out for two more weeks or longer.
Journeyman Forward Returns
Scott, 29, went undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2020 and has played professionally in Puerto Rico, France and Canada, in addition to extensive G League work. His G League stops include the Salt Lake City Stars, Cleveland Charge, Ontario Clippers, Greensboro Swarm, Osceola Magic and, most recently, the Long Island Nets.
In 47 games with Long Island this season, the 6-8 combo forward averaged 12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 45.3% from the field, 35.8% from three and 60.9% at the foul line.
Scott has appeared in five NBA games for Brooklyn this year, posting 8.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 block in 31.2 minutes per contest on 38.1% shooting overall and 28.6% from deep. He previously held a 10-day contract with Cleveland during the 2021-22 season.
Contract Details
The one-day deal will pay Scott $11,773, pushing his season earnings to $129,502—the same amount that will be charged to the Nets’ salary cap.
