NEW YORK — Michael Porter Jr. has no desire to relocate again after being dealt from the champion Denver Nuggets to the rebuilding Brooklyn Nets. “Yeah, I love it here,” the 27-year-old forward told the New York Post. “I love the staff, I love the energy of practice. … If they want me here, I’d love to be here.”

Porter is under contract for one more season, but only $12 million of his $40.8 million 2026-27 salary is guaranteed, a clause that could appeal to contenders before the NBA trade deadline. He is producing a career-best 25.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

Fernández Urges Focus Amid Trade Chatter

Head coach Jordi Fernández acknowledged the inevitable trade speculation but asked players to concentrate on performance. “It’s that part of the year and we all have to deal with it,” Fernández said. “We’re gonna keep focusing on working and getting better and competing. We cannot control anything on the outside.”

Traore Recalled From G League

Brooklyn brought rookie guard Nolan Traore, the 19th overall pick, back from Long Island on Thursday. In 13 G League outings, the 19-year-old averaged 18.8 points, 6.4 assists and shot 43.1 percent from three-point range. “His superpower is speed,” Fernández said, praising the rookie’s recent improvement in assist-to-turnover ratio.

Nets Eye Next 20-Game Stretch

Brooklyn has won three of its last four games entering Friday’s road contest against the Dallas Mavericks. “We’re 23 games in and we’re looking at the next 20,” Fernández said. “The process is the most important thing for us and the development of the group.”
