Michael Porter Jr.’s strong first season in Brooklyn has placed the 25-year-old forward back in the center of trade discussions, league sources told The Stein Line.
Through 26 games with the Nets, Porter is averaging a career-best 25.8 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor and better than 40 percent from three-point range. A veteran NBA executive described Porter’s current value as “at worst … neutral,” a significant change from six months ago, when he was largely viewed as a salary-cap burden after leaving Denver.
Brooklyn has fielded inquiries about Porter but is not actively shopping him, according to reporter Jake Fischer. Multiple league insiders believe the Nets could wait until the offseason to accelerate their rebuild—especially if they secure a high selection in the 2026 NBA Draft—potentially keeping Porter’s price tag elevated before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
The Milwaukee Bucks are among the teams monitoring Porter’s status, confirming an earlier report by The Athletic. Milwaukee continues to explore roster upgrades around two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Golden State Warriors and Detroit Pistons have also checked on Porter’s availability over the past year, league sources told Fischer. While the Nets are in no rush to move him, the forward’s resurgence has given the organization added flexibility as the trade market takes shape.
