Brooklyn, NY — The Brooklyn Nets have exercised their fourth-year team option on Noah Clowney, guaranteeing the big man’s $5,414,034 salary for the 2026-27 NBA season, the club announced Wednesday.
The move locks in Clowney’s deal one year early. The 21-year-old will now earn roughly $3.4 million in 2025-26 before his newly guaranteed figure kicks in. Clowney becomes eligible for a rookie-scale extension in the summer of 2026 and could enter restricted free agency in 2027 if no new agreement is reached.
Limited Action, Perimeter Focus
Selected 21st overall in the 2023 draft, Clowney saw limited time as a rookie, appearing in 23 games. Injuries—including ankle sprains to both legs—restricted him to 46 contests in 2024-25. Despite the setbacks, he averaged 9.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per game, shooting 35.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range. Notably, the 6-10 forward/center attempted 261 shots from beyond the arc versus 111 from inside it.
Other Rookie-Scale Decisions
Brooklyn had no additional calls to make on 2026-27 rookie-scale options after previously waiving guards Kobe Bufkin and Dariq Whitehead, effectively declining their future years.
