Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Dëmin recently underwent a successful, non-surgical treatment to address plantar fasciitis in his left foot, the team confirmed. While neither Dëmin nor head coach Jordi Fernandez detailed the exact procedure, the Russian rookie said the plan is to rehab through the end of the regular season and return in time for summer workouts.
“Everything went well, and now it’s just the process of rehab and getting back on the court as soon as the season ends,” Dëmin said in his first public remarks since being shut down. “Hopefully everything’s going to go in the right direction and I’ll be able to get back to work as soon as I can.”
Dëmin, a 2025 lottery pick, explained that the injury first appeared last offseason and grew progressively worse during the 2025/26 campaign. Viewing this stretch as an opportunity, he is focusing on strength work without the daily strain of games. “There’s a lot of advantage from not playing, even though I really like basketball and I’d prefer to be out there,” he noted.
Thunder Rout Nets After Record-Low Half
The Nets hit a franchise nadir on Wednesday, scoring just 24 points in the first half against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder—the lowest single-half total in team history. Brooklyn trailed by 36 at intermission and ultimately fell, 119-88, despite posting 68 second-half points.
“Obviously you feel embarrassed when you score 24 points in a half of basketball,” Fernandez said. “Our guys are better than this, but it’s about going out there and doing it.”
Clowney’s Wrist Sprain Deemed Minor
Third-year forward Noah Clowney left the same game in the fourth quarter with a right wrist concern. He told reporters the injury is not serious and expects to be fine. Fernandez added that with 13 games remaining, the club will “prioritize his body and his health.”
Porter Jr. Out With Hamstring Strain
Brooklyn is already without leading scorer Michael Porter Jr., who may miss the rest of the season after sustaining a left hamstring strain. The forward will be reevaluated in two to three weeks.
The Nets enter the final stretch of the 2025/26 schedule managing multiple injuries while attempting to rebound from Wednesday’s lopsided defeat.
