Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain — Veteran guard Patty Mills has agreed to a contract that will keep him with La Laguna Tenerife for the remainder of the season, the Spanish club announced on Monday.
The move sends the 37-year-old to Spain’s top domestic competition, Liga Endesa, and includes participation in the FIBA Basketball Champions League. It is the first time Mills has joined an overseas professional team outside of his long service with the Australian men’s national squad.
Mills spent 16 seasons in the NBA and most recently appeared during the 2024-25 campaign with the Los Angeles Clippers after a brief stretch with the Utah Jazz. Over 921 regular-season games, he has averaged 8.7 points and 2.2 assists while converting 38.5 percent of his three-point attempts.
The Canberra native’s minutes diminished in recent seasons, and he remained unsigned by an NBA club last summer. Off the court, Mills accepted a role in June as general manager of the men’s basketball program at the University of Hawaii, a location where he has regularly spent his off-seasons during the past decade.
