Players who finalize two-way contracts before the 2025/26 NBA season tips off may be placed on the active list for up to 50 games. To appear in more than 50 contests, they must first be converted to a standard roster spot.
The ceiling changes for anyone who signs after Opening Night. In those cases, the allocation is prorated according to the number of days left in the league’s 174-day regular season.
Take guard Jahmai Mashack, who reached a two-way agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies on Nov. 16, the 27th day of the schedule. With 148 days remaining, the formula (148/174 × 50) yields 42.53, which is rounded to 43. Consequently, Mashack may be active for up to 43 regular-season games.
To streamline the process for the remainder of the year, the chart below shows the maximum games a two-way player can dress for, based on the date his deal is signed:

Even a player who signs on the season’s final day (Apr. 12) is guaranteed eligibility for at least one appearance, despite the mathematical projection falling below one game.
Teams that carry fewer than 15 standard contracts cannot exploit every individual allowance. Until a 15th player is added, the franchise is limited to 90 total active games across its two-way slots.
