NBA Trade Rumor Roundup: Mavericks’ Asking Price for Anthony Davis Stalls Talks; Bridges, Sabonis, Pistons Notes

The Dallas Mavericks opened the season seeking multiple first-round selections or a high-impact player for 32-year-old center Anthony Davis, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. No club met that price even before Davis suffered a hand injury that will sideline him through the trade deadline.

Windhorst reports that a deal involving Davis before the deadline is now viewed as unlikely but not impossible. A trade would almost certainly require Dallas to lower the asking price to a single quality asset plus matching contracts. With no immediate pressure to act, league observers believe the Mavericks may revisit the situation during the offseason.

Tim Bontemps of ESPN adds that rival front offices expect Dallas to explore other salary-saving moves for the 2026-27 campaign. Guard Klay Thompson, center Daniel Gafford, and guard D’Angelo Russell—who holds a player option—are considered possible trade chips. Converting any of those contracts into expiring deals could ease next season’s cap concerns and lessen the need to move Davis’s maximum-salary agreement.

Bridges Likely Staying in Charlotte

Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges, once the subject of “legitimate” trade interest, is now expected to remain with the club, Sam Amick of The Athletic reports. Charlotte has won seven straight games and sits one contest outside a play-in berth. A league source told The Athletic that the Hornets, who had been seeking at least one first-round pick, are “highly likely” to keep Bridges past the deadline.

Sacramento-Toronto Talk Centered on Sabonis

The Sacramento Kings have discussed three-for-one and four-for-one packages with the Toronto Raptors for center Domantas Sabonis, James Ham of The Kings Beat writes. Forward RJ Barrett would headline any proposal, with guard Ochai Agbaji and wing Gradey Dick among the names floated. Sacramento is also interested in rookie Collin Murray-Boyles, though Toronto is reluctant to include him. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype confirms Barrett and Agbaji have surfaced in conversations.

Pistons Quiet Ahead of Deadline

The Detroit Pistons appear unlikely to make significant moves before the deadline, Hunter Patterson of The Athletic notes. The club has not held trade talks regarding veteran forward Tobias Harris, whom head coach J.B. Bickerstaff calls his “security blanket.” Detroit still possesses a $14 million trade exception that runs until July 7 and could carry it into the offseason if a favorable opportunity does not surface.

Boucher Not a Priority for Philadelphia

Following a HoopsHype report that the Philadelphia 76ers had shown exploratory interest in Celtics forward/center Chris Boucher, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer cites a source who downplayed the team’s level of engagement. Boucher previously played for Sixers head coach Nick Nurse in Toronto.

The trade deadline arrives with several teams weighing cost, roster balance, and long-term salary commitments, but, as of now, significant movement remains uncertain.
