Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus has outlined a hypothetical three-team trade that would move Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga and guard Buddy Hield to the Sacramento Kings, while also involving the Brooklyn Nets.
Details of the proposed trade
Kings receive: Jonathan Kuminga (from Warriors), Buddy Hield (from Warriors)
Warriors receive: Malik Monk (from Kings), Drew Timme (from Nets), a protected 2026 first-round pick (from Kings)
Nets receive: Dario Saric (from Kings), a 2029 second-round pick (from Kings), and $1 million in cash (from Kings)
Contract projection for Kuminga
Pincus projects that if Kuminga lands in Sacramento, the 21-year-old could secure a four-year, $82.8 million contract that includes a player option.
Why the deal faces obstacles
The Warriors have already turned down a similar offer this offseason, according to multiple reports. Sacramento previously proposed a package featuring Malik Monk and a protected first-round pick for Kuminga, which Golden State rejected, especially because it would have required including Hield (or Moses Moody) as well.
Potential motivation for Golden State
Pincus notes that the scenario might gain traction only if the Warriors become concerned that Kuminga will accept his $8 million qualifying offer next summer and enter unrestricted free agency in 2025. In that case, Golden State could look for the best available return rather than risk losing him for nothing.
Fit considerations
Monk would bring proven scoring to the Warriors’ perimeter, but Golden State is already preparing to add more backcourt depth, which could create additional congestion at the guard spots.
The proposal remains speculative as teams await the start of training camps.
