The Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks are linked in a new trade proposal that would move center Daniel Gafford to Indiana, according to Jake Rogers of Dallas Hoops Journal.

Proposed Terms

Pacers receive: Daniel Gafford, Dante Exum
Mavericks receive: Isaiah Jackson, Jarace Walker, 2028 second-round pick

Why It Fits for Indiana

With All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton sidelined for the remainder of the season, the Pacers are viewed as positioning for next year. Gafford, 25, offers rim protection, pick-and-roll finishing and low usage on offense—skills the team hopes will complement Haliburton when he returns. Exum is included primarily for salary matching.

Why It Fits for Dallas

The Mavericks are characterized as leaning toward a younger roster build. Acquiring rookie forward Jarace Walker and third-year center Isaiah Jackson would provide fresh developmental options, while the 2028 second-round pick adds a future asset. Gafford has contributed in Dallas but could be moved to open minutes for other frontcourt prospects.

The scenario remains speculative, and no formal negotiations have been confirmed by either organization.
