NBA Trade Scenario Would Send Anthony Davis From Mavericks to Pistons

A hypothetical deal outlined by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley places Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis in a new uniform once again—this time with the Detroit Pistons.

Proposed Trade Framework

Pistons receive: Anthony Davis

Mavericks receive: Tobias Harris, Isaiah Stewart, Jaden Ivey, Detroit’s 2026 first-round pick, Detroit’s 2028 first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick via the Bucks and a 2031 second-round pick originally belonging to Dallas.

The scenario aligns with league-wide expectations that Dallas could consider moving Davis after dismissing general manager Nico Harrison earlier this month.

Detroit’s Motivation

For Detroit, pairing Davis with Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren could accelerate the franchise’s rebuilding timeline and create a star-driven core.

Dallas’ Perspective

Davis, 32, has appeared in only 14 games since arriving from the Los Angeles Lakers in last season’s blockbuster Luka Doncic trade. He has produced 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and nearly two blocks per game when healthy, but a left calf strain has limited him to five games this fall.

Current Season and Contract Details

Through limited action this year, Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals while shooting 52 percent from the field. He earns $54.1 million this season, is owed $58.5 million in 2024-25 and holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28.

League sources expect the Mavericks to consult closely with Davis’s agent, Rich Paul, while evaluating in-season trade possibilities. A move to Detroit would mark the fourth franchise stop for the eight-time All-Star and member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.

Whether the Pistons ultimately pursue the proposal remains uncertain, but speculation around Davis’s future is intensifying as the trade market develops.
