A new trade concept outlined by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley moves Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks to the Chicago Bulls, placing the eight-time All-Star back in his hometown.

Proposed deal: Chicago would acquire Davis, while Dallas would receive Coby White, Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, a top-three–protected 2030 first-round pick, and a 2031 pick swap.

Buckley argued that pairing Davis with center Nikola Vucevic could stabilize Chicago’s frontcourt and open opportunities for Josh Giddey and rookie wing Matas Buzelis. The Bulls are 9-10 and searching for a long-term franchise cornerstone.

Dallas, 6-15 after dismissing general manager Nico Harrison, is reportedly expected to gauge Davis’s market value. The 31-year-old does not hold a no-trade clause, and his Chicago roots add intrigue to any negotiations.

For now, the Mavericks are said to be working with Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul—who represents Davis—to decide whether an in-season move makes sense.

Contract and performance

Davis is earning $54.1 million this season and holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28. Since joining Dallas in last season’s Luka Dončić blockbuster, he has appeared in 15 games, logging 19.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and nearly two blocks per outing. A calf strain has limited him to six games in the current campaign.

Despite recent injuries, rival executives still view Davis as a premier big man. Across stops in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Dallas, he owns career averages of 24.1 points and 10.7 rebounds.
