NBA analyst Zach Lowe recently indicated that the Milwaukee Bucks may be willing to make an aggressive push for Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis. James Piercey of Dallas Hoops Journal followed up with a detailed trade concept that attempts to satisfy the Bucks’ immediate ambitions while reshaping the Dallas Mavericks’ long-term plans.

Trade framework

Bucks receive: Anthony Davis

Mavericks receive: Myles Turner, Kyle Kuzma, 2032 first-round pick (Milwaukee)

Why Milwaukee would consider the move

With Giannis Antetokounmpo in his prime and the franchise short on future assets, Milwaukee is running out of options to stay in title contention. Pairing Antetokounmpo with Davis would create a frontcourt featuring two elite rim protectors, giving the Bucks a shot at returning to the NBA Finals despite offensive fit questions.

Dallas’ motivation

For the Mavericks, the centerpiece is Milwaukee’s unprotected 2032 first-round pick. Dallas views that selection as a potentially high-value asset once Antetokounmpo is well into his 30s. Turner and Kuzma serve primarily as trade chips that could be flipped elsewhere. The proposal would also remove roughly $6 million from Dallas’ current payroll and allow the club to bypass the cost of a future Davis extension.

Additional notes

Guard Ryan Rollins is not included; league rules tied to his Bird rights prohibit a move before January 15. Piercey describes Milwaukee’s offer as the franchise’s “last real chips,” citing Davis’ injury record and contract timing as factors that limit Los Angeles’ leverage.

If executed, the deal would mark a bold, high-risk swing for both teams: Milwaukee betting on immediate contention, and Dallas stockpiling for a new era built around top prospect Cooper Flagg.
