A three-team trade concept outlined by James Piercey of Dallas Hoops Journal envisions the Dallas Mavericks shipping center Anthony Davis to the Toronto Raptors, while the Golden State Warriors’ forward Jonathan Kuminga heads to Dallas.

Proposed terms

Raptors receive: Anthony Davis

Mavericks receive: Jonathan Kuminga, RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, Buddy Hield, Ochai Agbaji, and a lottery-protected 2028 first-round pick

Warriors receive: Klay Thompson and Daniel Gafford

Why Toronto is mentioned

Piercey argues Toronto values size, versatility, and two-way production—traits the 31-year-old Davis still offers. The Raptors would part with Poeltl and Barrett, plus a heavily protected future pick, to add a player who averaged 20.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists for Dallas this season.

Dallas’ situation

The Mavericks entered Wednesday at 14-23, 11th in the Western Conference and chasing a play-in berth. They are 9-9 when Davis plays and 4-14 without him. Despite that production, questions linger about fit and durability. In the mock deal, Dallas would receive former No. 7 overall pick Kuminga, several rotation pieces, and a first-round selection.

Golden State’s angle

The proposal suggests Golden State could retool around Stephen Curry by acquiring rim-running center Gafford and keeping Thompson in a familiar role, while moving on from Kuminga, who has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the rotation.

Piercey’s scenario remains speculative; no team has publicly indicated negotiations are underway.
