NBA Two-Way Contract Signings Must Be Completed by Wednesday

Spread the love

NBA clubs have just two more days to add players on two-way contracts, with the league’s signing window closing on Wednesday, March 4. The last day of the regular season, April 12, remains the deadline for completing 15-man rosters and issuing standard NBA contracts.

Front offices have stepped up activity in recent weeks to lock in their three allotted two-way slots for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign and beyond. So far this season, 21 players have had two-way deals converted to standard pacts, most of them multiyear agreements.

Ideally, teams complete those conversions before the mid-week cutoff so any vacated two-way spots can be refilled. Conversions themselves, however, are still permitted until April 12.

Eligibility Rules

A two-way agreement is available to anyone with fewer than four years of NBA service. Because service time is officially tallied on June 30, a player in his fourth season who entered the year with three seasons logged remains eligible. Certain players with four years of service who missed an entire season because of injury may also qualify for a one-year two-way deal.

Games and Salary Proration

A player who starts the season on a two-way contract can be active for up to 50 games. That ceiling drops as the calendar advances: signings completed on Monday or Tuesday can appear in a maximum of 12 games, while Wednesday additions are limited to 11.

The same prorating applies to salary. A full-season two-way contract is worth $636,435 in 2025-26, half of this year’s rookie minimum. A player who signs on March 4 will earn approximately $146,307.
