The National Basketball Association has taken over day-to-day operations of NBA TV, ending a 15-year run in which the network was managed by TNT Sports, according to Sports Business Journal.

The league will now program all content on the channel and plans to roll out its first slate of original shows on Oct. 13. Until then, viewers will see a schedule built around preseason matchups, season preview specials and studio-based programming.

TNT Sports had overseen NBA TV since the 2008-09 season and continued to produce playoff games through the 2023 postseason. Talks earlier this year aimed at extending the partnership ended without a deal after both sides determined the financial terms were unworkable, SBJ reported.

Uncertainty over staffing appears to have eased. The NBA is expected to retain most, if not all, Turner employees who have been working on NBA TV and NBA.com for the upcoming season.

With the network no longer slated to carry live national games, those broadcasts will remain with ESPN/ABC and are set to appear on NBC, Amazon Prime Video and NBA League Pass under existing and future agreements.
