The 2025-26 NBA campaign will begin on October 21 with a pair of Western Conference matchups, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The opening game sends the Houston Rockets to Oklahoma City, where the defending champion Thunder will receive their championship rings. The matchup also marks Kevin Durant’s return to the city as a member of Houston’s revamped roster.

Game two features Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The contest will be the 57th head-to-head meeting between the two future Hall of Famers, a rivalry that has shaped much of the past decade.

The Dallas Mavericks will not appear on opening night. Instead, Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports that Dallas will start its season on October 22 against the San Antonio Spurs. The game is expected to draw strong interest with No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg facing last year’s top selection, Victor Wembanyama, along with this year’s No. 2 pick, Dylan Harper.
